Albany man arrested for the murder of Albany teen Chyna Forney

ALBANY, NY – An 18-year-old Albany man has been charged in connection with a homicide that occurred last week on Essex Street. Alvin Foy was arrested today following an investigation by detectives from the Albany Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit.

On Monday, May 3, 2021 at approximately 2:50 p.m., officers responded to Essex Street just west of Rawson Street for reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located evidence of gunfire and 18-year-old Chyna Forney at the scene with a gunshot wound to her back.

Forney was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. Foy has been charged with Murder 2nd, Reckless Endangerment 1st and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd. He was arraigned this afternoon in Albany Criminal Court and has been remanded to the Albany County Jail.
