A CNN journalist was fired by the liberal-leaning news outlet after anti-Semitic tweets were published this week. Adeel Raja, who penned 54 articles as a journalist for CNN reported on Pakistani and Indian regional news for the company until he was terminated this weekend. He has written stories for the network since 2014.

A tweet posted on Sunday by the CNN writer said, “The world needs another Hitler.”

After his tweet on Sunday, more anti-Semitic tweets admiring Nazi leader Adolf Hitler were uncovered. One just said “Hail Hitler”.

Another from 2014 said, “The only reason I’m supporting Germany in the finals is- Hitler was a German and did good with those Jews!”

CNN today tried to create distance between itself and their anti-Semitic journalist, saying Raja was never employed by the network. Raja later deleted the tweets. Raja has 80,000 followers on his Twitter account, including other journalists.

Last week, Raja condemned Israel as “terrorists” and replied to former Vice President Mike Pence’s tweet showing support for Israel saying, “A history of creating terrorists and standing with them!”

“Adeel Raja has never been a CNN employee. As a freelancer, his reporting contributed to some newsgathering efforts from Islamabad. However, in light of these abhorrent statements, he will not be working with CNN again in any capacity,” the network said.
