PORT ST. JOE, FL – Gulf County Sheriff Mike Harrison announces the arrest of Andrea S. Kennington (45) of Port St. Joe. Her arrest stems from an investigation into a complaint from an officer of the Port St. Joe Band Boosters, who discovered irregularities in the organization’s financial records.

The Port St. Joe Band Boosters is a private organization, separate from the school, that raises funds to support the Port St. Joe High School Band of Gold. Investigators examined the records and substantiated the complaint. Documents revealed multiple checks written to, and by, Kennington that did not have any supporting documentation which explained the transactions.

Approximately $9,096 in checks and cash were taken from the boosters by Kennington, a former officer of the organization. In an interview, she admitted to investigators that she used the monies for her own financial gain. Kennington was charged with Grand Theft and booked into the Gulf County Detention Facility this afternoon. The investigation is ongoing.
