Kansas Deputy avoids head on collision with driver by driving in ditch

MITCHEL COUNTY, KS – A Mitchell County Deputy narrowly avoided a head-on collision by sacrificing himself and his own vehicle into a ditch alongside the road.

On Monday, a Mitchell County Sheriff’s Deputy had a black GMC Envoy enter his lane on Hwy 9 just east of Hope Lane. The Deputy avoided a head on collision by entering the north ditch causing extensive damage to his patrol vehicle. The Deputy was transported to the Mitchell County Hospital and later released. The driver of the Envoy did not stop and render aid. The investigation is on going.
