New Jersey police officer called out on social media for being “a Perv” charged by prosecutor

A Phillipsburg Police Officer has been charged with Criminal Sexual Contact in the fourth degree and Official Misconduct hours after a social media post calling him “a perv” was posted online.

According to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, William Lance, a police officers in Phillipsburg was the target of a social media post by a Phillipsburg resident calling him “a perv” and telling residents to “share their stories if they have one”.

Upon receipt of the posts, the police department forwarded the information to the prosecutor’s office to investigate the claims. The prosecutor’s office then charged officer Lance and arrested him. He was awaiting a pre-trial hearing at the Somerset Correctional Center.


The prosecutor’s office did not elaborate on the claims made against Lance or the substance of the charges.
