Border Patrol agents apprehended 123 subjects in four failed human smuggling attempts

EDINBURG, Texas– Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) Border Patrol agents apprehended 123 subjects in four failed human smuggling attempts.

On Tuesday, June 8, 2021, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Falfurrias Border Patrol Checkpoint referred a Ford F-150 to secondary inspection after a service canine alerted to the vehicle.  At the secondary inspection area, agents discovered six migrants concealed underneath the bed cover of the truck.  Agents determined all subjects were illegally present in the United States.  The driver and smuggled migrants were placed under arrest and escorted into the checkpoint for processing. 

Yesterday afternoon, information regarding a Mission, Texas, residence suspected of harboring migrants was relayed to the McAllen Border Patrol Station. RGV agents along with Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at the residence and discovered 34 undocumented migrant adults confined inside. Border Patrol took custody of all subjects. No caretaker was identified.

Early this morning, Rio Grande City Station agents, responded to a call for assistance from Texas Department of Public Safety troopers regarding a possible human stash house located in Roma, Texas.  Upon arrival at the residence, agents encountered 10 undocumented noncitizens. The migrants were from Mexico, Ecuador, and Central America.  No principal or caretaker was identified at the location.  All migrants were transported to a Border Patrol station for processing. 


Additionally, RGV agents discovered another stash house harboring 73 migrants and drugs, located in Brownsville, Texas.
