Hard Rock Casino murder suspect turns himself in to police

ATLANTIC CITY— Frankie E. Lane, 59, who was wanted on murder and weapons charges in the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend Sharon Whaley, turned himself in to detectives without incident last night at the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Atlantic County Prosecutor  Damon G. Tyner announced.

“I want to thank all of the law enforcement agencies which worked cooperatively to quickly identify and apprehend this suspect.  We continue to work diligently in order to obtain more answers as to why this tragedy occurred, so that we can pursue justice for the deceased and her family,” Atlantic County Prosecutor  Damon G. Tyner said.


After a cooperative investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and members of the Atlantic City Police Department, Whaley’s boyfriend, Frankie E. Lane was charged with murder and weapons offenses. Lane was taken into custody on the evening of Monday, June 14, 2021, and he is currently lodged at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

This is a cooperative investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Atlantic City Police Department and assistance from the Philadelphia Police Department.
