Toms River cops begin Operation Brain Freeze, free ice cream for kids

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Now that school is out, Operation Brain Freeze has begun. This week, the Toms River Police Department will be ticketing children who get caught wearing their helmets while riding their bikes. This is the 7th annual Operation Brain Freeze.

Here’s how it works. If a cop sees you wearing your helmet, they will give you a ticket that will be good to redeem for a free ice cream cone. You can take that voucher to Rita’s on Route 9, Mrs. Walkers, Yellow Brick Road, Barnacle Bills, Summer Sweets and Dairy Queen on Fischer Boulevard to be redeemed.

“We want everyone to have a safe enjoyable summer. Tomorrow begins our 2021 Operation Brain Freeze campaign. Toms River Police Officers will be out looking for young riders in the community who abide by the law and wear their bicycle helmets,” the Toms River Police Department said. “Each year we enjoy all of the photos sent in of the smiles of the children receiving their (ice cream) “ticket”, don’t forget to tag us!”
