Indiana man drowned, woman saved during Cocoa Beach water rescue

COCOA BEACH – On Satrurday, an Indiana man, 45, drowned in the surf at about 6:30 P.M. a block south of Minutemen Cswy. while attempting to aid a female member of his group who appeared to be struggling to swim. Cocoa Beach Police and Fire arrived on scene and the fire department deployed a jet ski. Both the male and female were brought to shore by fire personnel. The male was transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The female was treated and is with the decedent’s family. Cocoa Beach detectives continue to investigate this active incident. Anyone who may have information pertinent to this case is asked to contact the Cocoa Beach Police Department at 321-868-3251.
