Columbus teen accidentally shoots 11-year-old relative while playing with dad’s gun

COLUMBUS, OH – Columbus Police officers are investigating a tragic incident that ended up with an 11-year-old being shot and sent to the hospital in critical condition.

Last night, June 27, 2021 at 8:35pm, Columbus Police Patrol officers responded to a shooting that occurred at 5708 Forest Hills Blvd. Upon arrival, officers located the 11-year-old victim who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the stomach.

Officers then spoke with the 14-year-old suspect who explained that he & the victim are related and they were looking at his father’s handgun when he accidentally fired the handgun striking the 11-year-old.
