CALEXICO, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested an undocumented individual with a prior conviction for a sexual offense Thursday afternoon.

Agents apprehended an undocumented individual within minutes of illegally entering the United States in Calexico. The individual was transported to the El Centro Sector Processing Center.

Records checks revealed that Benito Alavez-Antonio, a 33-year-old Mexican national, was previously convicted on Oct. 10, 2007, for sexual battery and has served time in jail for his crime.

U.S. Border Patrol agents will process Alavez-Antonio accordingly.
