FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Bullets ripped into city hall in Fort Lauderdale last week and now, police are saying the building was not the intended target.
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22nd at 11 North Andrews Avenue in the city of Fort Lauderdale. Preliminary investigation has revealed patrol officers responded to the area following a ShotSpotter notification.
Evidence was collected on scene which determined a shooting did occur. No victims were located at or near the scene. At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22nd, Fort Lauderdale Police received a call reporting damage to two windows at the City Hall building. This damage appears to be consistent with gunfire from the shooting which occurred nearby.
No injuries were reported from City Hall. The investigation into the incident is ongoing but at this time, City Hall does not appear to be the intended target.
