Gun Violence continues as another murdered in Paterson

PATERSON, NJ – Murders and shootings continue to rise in Paterson after a violent Fourth of July weekend shootings included a murder on Franklin Street.

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announce that approximately 10:02 p.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2021, members of the Paterson Police Department were dispatched to 159 Franklin Street in Paterson, New Jersey in response to a report of shots fired.

Upon their arrival, officers located Juan Garcia, 28-years-old from Paterson lying on the sidewalk with apparent gunshot wounds. Paterson Police Officers immediately began providing medical attention to the victim and requested an ambulance.


Upon the arrival of medical personnel, Mr. Garcia succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
