Supermarket assault leads to multi-agency police search before suspect caught

KEYPORT, NJ – A man who was being sought by police on Tuesday is now in custody after a manhunt that involved multiple agencies. Earlier in the day police were notified of an assault at the local Stop & Shop supermarket that lead police later to the Shore Lands Cemetery.

Police issued a warning to residents to stay out of the cemetery.

“Please stay out of the area of Shore Lands Cemetery. We are looking for a white male wearing a red hat in his 51years old gray /white hair armed with a knife,” police reported.


Later there were multiple police agencies searching in the area of Airport Plaza in the woods.

“There are multiple K-9 units and the state police helicopter searching. There have been no confirm sights of the suspect as of now,” police said.

Later in the day, the man was arrested. Police have not released any further information.
