Mark Schneider of Tonawanda pleads guilty to sexually assaulting child

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 48-year-old Mark Schneider of Town of Tonawanda pleaded guilty yesterday morning before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges to one count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the Second Degree (Class “D” felony) and one count of Criminal Sexual Act in the Third Degree (Class “E” felony). The defendant pleaded guilty to the highest sustainable charges in the indictment against him.

The defendant admitted to engaging in multiple acts of sexual conduct with a child victim over the course of several years at a location in the City of Buffalo.

Schneider faces 11 years in prison when he is sentenced on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. He was remanded without bail.


Haendiges issued an order of protection on behalf of the victim.

DA Flynn commends Detective Keith Fitzner of the Buffalo Police Department Special Victims Unit and the Child Advocacy Center for their work in the investigation.  

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Rebecca L. Schnirel of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Unit.
