Tampa Bay police say dive team ready to recover Stanley Cup if thrown during celebration

TAMPA BAY, FL – Who can forget the time Tampa Bay Buccaneer Quarterback Tom Brady threw the Lombardi trophy into another boat? Well, this time, if that happens after the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Montreal Canadiens to win the Stanley Cup, police are ready.

The Tampa Bay Police Department today said their SCUBA diving team is ready in case Tom Brady or any Tampa player wants to test his arm again.

“We highly advise against this, but, if any Tampa Bay Lightning player attempts the Tom Brady toss tomorrow and Stanley goes overboard, our Dive Team is ready! 😅 Thank you Beau Zimmer for highlighting our team,” the department said today on Facebook.

The Stanley Cup makers also warned against it. “FYI I’m too heavy to throw, @TomBrady,” they tweeted. “…and catch @RobGronkowski.”

The city will be hosting a boat parade at the Tampa Riverwalk on Monday at 11 am after defeating the Canadiens 4 games to 1. The Lightning defeated the Canadiens 1-0 at home Wednesday for the championship victory.
