Storm Thayer charged for brutal murder of woman in Miramar Beach

MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla— The suspect in a brutal homicide has been charged with murder after a woman is found dead at a home in Walton County.

Deputies responded to a home on Troon Drive in Sandestin early Tuesday morning following a 911 call. When deputies arrived, they discovered a deceased female with numerous stab wounds.

The suspect, Storm Royal Thayer, 24, was immediately detained.

Walton County Sheriff’s Office investigators alongside the State Attorney’s Office processed the scene and conducted interviews.


Following their investigation, Thayer has been charged with second-degree murder.


Thayer has a lengthy criminal history to include burglary, grand theft, aggravated battery, and child abuse. He was released from prison in March after serving time for the child abuse charges.
