Cyclist suffers head injuries after crash on Princeton Avenue

BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ – On Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 1510 hours, the Brick Township Police Department responded to the intersection of Princeton Avenue and Stoneham Drive for a report of a crash involving a motor vehicle and a bicyclist. Preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle was traveling east in Princeton Avenue in front of Windward Beach.

A bicyclist was also traveling east on Princeton Avenue in the east-bound bicycle lane in the area of Windward Beach. As the vehicle was approaching the bicyclist turned left in an attempt to cross Princeton Avenue in front of it.

The vehicle then collided with bicyclist just west of the intersection of Princeton Avenue and Stoneham Drive. As a result of the crash the bicyclist was thrown from the bicycle.

The Brick Township Police Department’s Patrol Units and Emergency Medical Services along with Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics responded to the scene. The bicyclist suffered head and internal injuries and was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center.


The Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit responded to the scene to investigate the crash. Vehicular traffic on Princeton Avenue was reduced to one lane of travel with alternating traffic for approximately 2 hours during the investigation. An ongoing investigation is being conducted by Brick Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit. This accident is under investigation by Ptl.
