Boaters rescued on dark, stormy night after boat crashed, overturned in Cattus Island marsh

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Boaters were rescued and transported to the hospital after their vessel crashed into a marsh area of Cattus Island and overturned. Silverton Fire Department and other agencies responded to the scene of the crash in the Barnegat Bay on July 17th. First responders were able to reach the remote location to rescue the boaters despite heavy rain and passing storms during the effort. The incident happened at 10:58 pm and the rescue was mounted in the darkness.

Within 20 minutes, fire and police units arrived to rescue 4 victims and two dogs.
