Florida Murder And Arson Investigation Leads To Arrest

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – On the morning of Friday, May 29th, 2020, Officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1000 block of West 6th Street to assist personnel with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department with a structure fire in an abandoned apartment complex. As JFRD entered one of the buildings and worked to extinguish the fire, they discovered a deceased female inside. The female had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. The Homicide and Crime Scene Units were notified and responded to the area, along with the State Fire Marshall, and each began their respective investigations. Following an autopsy, the results revealed the victim had been shot multiple times and the manner of death was ruled a Homicide. Throughout the lengthy investigation, information collected and evidence examined led to a suspect being identified. In the Duval County Jail on unrelated charges, William Henry Cone (Black/Male 29) was identified and interviewed about the crime that had occurred a year earlier. Cone was subsequently arrested for Murder and Arson in the death of the victim.
