Shootings continue in Paterson with another man shot

PATERSON, NJ – Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announce that at approximately 12:15 a.m. on July 26, 2021, members of the Paterson Police Department were dispatched to the area of East 23rd Street and Park Avenue in Paterson, New Jersey on a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, police located a potential crime scene and a 35- year-old male Yonkers, New York resident who sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound. The victim was immediately transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey for treatment. Based upon the initial investigation, it was determined that the victim was sleeping in a residence in the area of East 23rd Street and Park Avenue when he was struck by gunfire coming from the exterior.

In addition, gunfire struck the outside of the residence and three motor vehicles. The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
