Georgia man shot in Paterson died at hospital

PATERSON, NJ – Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announce that at approximately 11:01 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2021, members of the Paterson Police Department were dispatched to the area of 17th Avenue and East 27th Street in Paterson, New Jersey in response to a report of a shooting.

Upon their arrival, officers located Nadir Johnson, 35-years-old from Covington, Georgia, lying on the sidewalk in front of 216 17th Avenue with apparent gunshot wounds. Paterson Police Officers immediately began providing medical attention to the victim and requested an ambulance.

Mr. Johnson was transported to Saint Joseph’s Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
