A Nevada State Trooper was struck and killed by a fleeing suspect this week who was wanted for an armed carjacking.

“With heavy hearts, we confirm the loss of Nevada Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol Trooper Micah May #6203,” the Nevada Department of Public Safety said.

Trooper May was struck while deploying stop-sticks on Interstate 15 attempting to apprehend an armed carjacking suspect. The suspect’s vehicle struck Trooper May, who suffered life-threatening injuries.

46-year-old Trooper May tragically passed away on July 29, 2021, after serving 13 years with the DPS Highway Patrol. In 2014, Trooper May was honored by the Department and received the Medal of Valor for his courageous actions in the line of duty.

Dedicated to apprehending impaired drivers from Nevada’s roadways, Trooper May received numerous awards for his contributions in the prevention and enforcement of impaired drivers.

Trooper May is survived by his wife and two children. The IPOF has established a fund to assist his family. If you would like to help, donations can be made through www.IPOF.Vegas. This is a time of enormous grief for our agency, his family, and our communities. A memorial service is pending and that information will be forthcoming. Rest easy, #6203. We’ve got the watch from here.
