Man shot while riding his bike in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, MD – A man riding his bike on Greenwood Avenue was shot and required medical attention.

According to police, on 7/29/21 shortly before 5:00 pm Cambridge Police responded to the 500 block of Greenwood Avenue in reference to shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers observed a bicycle lying in the roadway in the 600 block of Greenwood Avenue. While canvassing the area it was advised that a victim had arrived at the emergency room with a gunshot wound to the leg. The 20-year-old male victim advised that he was riding his bicycle on Greenwood Avenue when he began hearing shots nearby.

The victim advised that he did not know who shot him and was unsure if he was targeted or it was just someone randomly shooting. Detectives from CPD were able to locate casings from the shooting to be analyzed.


The victim was later treated and released. There was a second adult male victim that had a minor injury on his hand where it is believed he sustained because of a ricochet from a bullet fragment. With the information gathered so far by detectives, it appears that the male victim who was shot in the leg was targeted, and this was not someone randomly shooting.
