Do you recognize her? She’s wanted for double shooting at Akron Sky Lounge

by Dinesh Patel

AKRON – Detectives are investigating a double shooting that occurred at the Sky Lounge early Saturday morning that left two people injured, one critically. Around 3:16 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to the troubled establishment, located in the 400 block of E. South Street and found a 27-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Officers immediately provided emergency first aid until EMS arrived and transported the woman to the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital. She is still listed in critical condition. Moments later, a 27-year-old man walked into Summa Health Akron City Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right side.

He is being treated for an injury that is considered non-life-threatening. The victim was transported to the hospital by a Good Samaritan after a vehicle he was previously being transported in crashed in the area of Brown Street and E. Thornton Street. Based on preliminary information developed at the scene, there were altercations both inside and outside the bar at nearly the same time.

The woman was shot during an altercation inside the bar while the male was shot outside the bar by an unknown suspect. Investigators believe the victims may not have been the intended targets, in what is being described as separate shooting incidents.

Additionally, detectives are seeking to identify the woman in the photograph, as she is a person of interest in connection to the shooting that occurred inside the bar. The woman is described as a black female, 20-30-years-old. She had her hair tied into a bun or ponytail and was wearing a black Michael Jordan shirt.

Detectives need the public’s assistance in identifying the female suspect, as well as the suspect involved in the shooting outside the bar. No arrests have been made at this stage in the investigation. There is no additional information available at this time. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490 or 330-375-2Tip.
