RGV Border Patrol Arrests a Mara-Salvatrucha and a Sex Offender

EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector (RGV) agents arrested a Mara-Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member and a previously convicted sex offender.

Friday morning, Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station agents working near Salineno, Texas, apprehended a group of migrants after they illegally entered the United States.  Among the group was a 29 year old male from El Salvador who is a confirmed MS-13 gang member. 

Yesterday afternoon, Fort Brown Border Patrol Station agents working in Brownsville, Texas, apprehended a group of four migrants after they illegally entered the United States. Among the group was a Honduran national, whose criminal record checks revealed he was convicted in Baltimore, Maryland, for a 3rd degree sex offense in 2007. He was sentenced to ten years’ incarceration, five years’ probation, and subsequently removed from the United States.


U.S. Border Patrol has arrested 7,830 criminal migrants this fiscal year.  More than 1,600 of the criminal migrants were apprehended by Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents. 

Border Patrol processed the subjects accordingly.
