UNION TOWNSHIP, NJ – A Hunterdon County Grand Jury returned a four-count indictment on July 29, 2021 charging a Texas man for the murder of 43-year-old Ricardo Menezes De Castro, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson reported. David L. Rodriguez, age 45, of Alamo, Texas, was indicted for one count of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and one count of third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He remains in the Warren County Jail.
“On January 23, 2021, at approximately 12:37 p.m., Troopers from Perryville Station responded to the report of a shooting at the Pilot Travel Center in Union Township. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside the Travel Center convenience store,” police initially reported. “The victim was transported to the Hunterdon Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. The suspect remained at the scene and was arrested.”
Executive Assistant Prosecutor Michael Sweeney presented the case to the grand jury.
