Two children shot in driveby shooting at a candlelight vigil for murdered friend in Columbus

COLUMBUS, OH – Three young Columbus residents were shot, including a 17-year-old and 12-year-old who during a candlelight vigil for another friend who was murdered.

Overnight, at 12:14 am, a 21-year-old, 17-year-old & 12-year-old victim were attending a vigil for a friend who was murdered in the same apartment complex on the previous evening. The vigil they were attending was in front of the apartment building at 860 Greenfield Drive within the South Park Apartments.

A gray car pulled in front of the attendees and a suspect produced a weapon then began firing, striking three victims. Two of the victims sustained gunshots wounds to the abdomen. These two victims were transported to Grant Hospital by a friend and are currently listed in stable condition. The third victim was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for a gunshot wound to the left knee. CPD’s Crime Scene Search Unit responded to the scene and recovered a total of 84 spent, hand gun shell casings. People of interest were interviewed by detectives and released.
