Police say this Paterson man sexually assaulted multiple children age 3 to 5

PATERSON, NJ – Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announces that Richard Solis, 46 years old, from Paterson, New Jersey has been indicted on multiple counts of sexual offenses against children that occurred between 2008 and 2010.

If convicted, Mr. Solis is subject to Parole Supervision for Life and Megan’s Law registration requirements. The Honorable Marybel Mercado-Ramirez, J.S.C., previously granted the State’s motion for pretrial detention of the defendant. Mr. Solis will be scheduled for an arraignment hearing at a future date. A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite this accusation, defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. A Passaic County Grand Jury has returned Indictment No. 21-08-0490-I, charging Mr. Solis with sexual offenses against two children that took place at a residence in Paterson when one child was five to six years old and the other child was three years old.


Mr. Solis was indicted on one count of first degree Aggravated Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(1), one count of second degree Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b one count of second degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N,J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1), and one count of third degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1).

The sentencing exposure on first degree Aggravated Sexual Assault is ten to twenty years in New Jersey State Prison with 85% of the term to be served before parole eligibility pursuant to the No Early Release Act; on second degree Sexual Assault it is five to ten years in New Jersey State Prison with 85% of the term to be served before parole eligibility pursuant to the No Early Release Act; on second degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child it is five to ten years in New Jersey State Prison; and on third degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child it is three to five years in New Jersey State Prison.
