“I figured out I hit the big one!”

That’s how Ronald Perks of Glen Allen described the moment he scratched a Weekly Two Grand ticket from the Virginia Lottery and realized he’d won the game’s top prize.

“I’m kind of old, but I did a backflip or two,” he joked with Virginia Lottery officials.

Mr. Perks had a choice: either $2,000 per week for the next ten years or a one-time cash option of $914,582 before taxes. He chose the cash option.

He bought his winning ticket at Super Mart, located at 1611 Mountain Road in Glen Allen.

Mr. Perks said there may be a new vehicle in his future.

Weekly Two Grand (game #1948) is one of dozens of Scratchers available from the Virginia Lottery. It features prizes ranging from $5 up to the top prize of $2,000 per week for ten years. This is the third top prize claimed in this game, which means one more remains unclaimed. The odds of scratching to win that top prize are 1 in 2,754,000. The odds of winning any prize in this game are 1 in 4.02.
