Police say don’t drive wrong way on Route 72 to avoid flooding caused by Henri

SHIP BOTTOM, NJ – Police in Ship Bottom are warning drivers not to drive the wrong way on State Highway 72 to avoid flooding caused overnight by Tropical Storm Henri.

Police report drivers are dangerously driving the opposite direction on the road and will begin issuing summonses.

“We’ve had several complaints of vehicles going the wrong way down Rt 72 E and W to avoid flooding. Do NOT travel the wrong way on any roadway,” the Ship Bottom Police Department said. “This is your warning. If you need assistance with ways off, on, or around LBI please call or flag us down. We will help you. It’s better to meet us that way rather than at a head-on collision.”
