One of Hoffman’s Ice Cream stores will be closing in two days

Hoffman’s Ice Cream is an iconic brand here at the northern end of the Jersey Shore. While not as popular as say Kohr’s Frozen Custard, it could very well sit in the second or third spot in Ocean and Monmouth Counties.

Now, one of the three remaining stores will be closing permanently. Opened just a few years ago, the Hoffman’s of Long Branch will be shutting down for good.

“To our valued customers, as of Sunday, August 29th, our Long Branch store will be closing permanently. Thank you for many years of loyalty and memories,” read a sign on the door.

The company’s website now lists only its flagship Point Pleasant store and Spring Lake as available locations.

Hoffman’s story began in 1955 in Point Pleasant as a Carvel Ice Cream store. In 1976, the store was rebranded to Hoffman’s and a Jersey Shore favorite was born. They are known for producing fresh, homemade ice cream.
