Man hit woman in the head with a hammer after asking him to cover up the windows he broke

PUTNAM COUNTY – August 31, 2021 Deputies arrived at a disturbance at a Husson Avenue residence Saturday afternoon and found a woman bleeding with a severe head injury. On the driveway was a hammer next to blood. A family member told deputies that Kenneth Walker Jr. started acting erratic two days prior and smashed windows to the residence and windshields on vehicles

The family member told deputies he and the victim told Walker on Saturday to put plywood over the broken windows and an argument ensued between Walker and the victim. Witnesses told deputies they heard the altercation and saw Walker strike the victim with a hammer

.A neighbor intervened, pulled a knife and demanded Walker drop the hammer and walk away. The neighbor assisted the victim until law enforcement and first responders arrived. The victim was taken to a trauma center hospital where as of Tuesday she remains in critical, but stable condition. Walker was arrested and taken to the Putnam County Jail. He was charged with aggravated battery and held on $25,000 bond.
