Somerset man charged for child pornography

SOMERSET, NJ – Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of DAVID CHAPINSKI (DOB: 7/12/1980; single; warehouse supervisor) of 100 Barron Circle, Somerset, New Jersey on child pornography charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

On Tuesday, July 27, 2021, the Edgewater Police Department arrested DAVID CHAPINSKI on charges of invasion of privacy, debauching the morals of a child and harassment, and then referred the case to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit for analysis of CHAPINSKI’S electronic devices. Further investigation revealed that CHAPINSKI used the Internet to view, download, and possess more than 900 digital files depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children.

As a result of the investigation, DAVID CHAPINSKI was arrested on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in Paramus, New Jersey and charged with one count of second-degree production of child pornography, N.J.S.A 2C:24-4b(4); and one count of third-degree possession of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(b)iii. CHAPINSKI was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.


Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella thanks the Edgewater Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
