Suspect arrested for murder committed in Albany in January

A 28-year-old Albany man has been charged in connection with a homicide that occurred back in January on Ontario Street.

Nicholas Higgins was arraigned this morning in Albany County Criminal Court where an indictment regarding the incident was unsealed.

On Monday, January 11, 2021 at approximately 11:55 p.m., officers responded to the area of Ontario Street and Hamilton Street for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered 23-year-old Uizaie Brigman inside of a vehicle with a gunshot wound.


Brigman was evaluated by emergency medical personnel and pronounced deceased at the scene.

An Albany County Grand Jury returned charges of Murder 2nd and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd. The investigation was conducted by detectives from the Albany Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit.

Following his arraignment, Higgins was returned to the Albany County Jail where he has been incarcerated since his arrest on June 30th as part of a joint investigation with the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
