COLUMBUS, OH – On Tuesday, at 8:16 pm, Columbus Police officers responded to the 100 block of W. 10th Ave. on report of a robbery.

The 20-year-old victim said he was robbed at gunpoint and his Honda Civic was stolen. The suspect was described as a black male 6′ tall with a black mask, army green shirt and a handgun. A black female was also with the male. The male left in the victim’s Civic and the female left in a white Ford Fusion.

Officers circulated the area and within 6 minutes located both vehicles traveling on 5th Ave. at Penny St. Officers attempted to stop the vehicles but they fled. Officers were unable to follow the Fusion and focused on the Civic. A 9 minute pursuit ensued until a successful PIT maneuver was executed by officers at Mt. Vernon Ave. and Garfield Ave. The 15-year-old driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was arrested.

Shortly after the pursuit ended, a 4-year-old boy located a gun in a field at Parham St. and St. Claire Ave. The recovery location was along the route of the pursuit. Officers responded and secured the gun. At the time of arrest, a Ford Fusion key fell out of the suspect’s pocket.
