An entire police department in Missouri has resigned

KIMBERLING CITY, Mo – The entire police department, including the chief of police has resigned in Kimberling City citing funding, job conditions, and better opportunities elsewhere.

Now, the Stone County Sheriff’s Office will handle community policing in Kimberling until local officials can fill the vacant positions including the chief, sergeant, and three patrol officers.

The resignation took Kimberling City Mayor Bob Fritz by surprise after two officers took jobs at the nearby Branson West Police Department.

“I didn’t know there were that many openings in Branson West because we didn’t see advertisements for police,” Fritz told KY3. “We’re looking for officers, we’re looking for a new police chief and I think we’ll be fine.”
