FORT LEE, NJ – Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Andrew Freedman (DOB: 04/18/1969; divorced; unemployed) of 1265 15th Street, Apartment 8C, Fort Lee, NJ, on charges of possession and distribution of child pornography. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.
On Thursday, September 16, 2021, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of Freedman during a months-long Internet child pornography investigation. The investigation revealed that Freedman used the Internet to view, download, possess and distribute multiple digital files depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent children.
As a result of the investigation, Freedman was arrested on Thursday, September 16, 2021, in Paramus, NJ and charged with one count of second-degree distribution of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(a)i; and one count of third-degree possession of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(b)iii. Freedman was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella thanks the Fort Lee Police Department for their assistance, as well as the Lyndhurst Police Department, Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, and Rochelle Park Police Department which participate in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
