The honeymoon between the liberal U.S. press and U.S. President Joe Biden seems to be heading for rocky shores. The White House Press Corps has launched a formal objection against President Biden after being snubbed in favor of foreign journalists at a press briefing with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
“
“We’re coming back on to just provide a bit more context. What we heard there was officials taking the questions of three British reporters. We heard Boris Johnson there call on some reporters towards the end. Our Ed O’Keefe who is there in the Oval Office was there, acting as pool reports that in that moment at the very end that we just heard there, he attempted to ask a question of President Biden about the southern border,” CBSN reports. “He says in his tweet White House aides shouted down U.S. attempts to ask questions. He asked the President about the southern border, you could not decipher what it was that the President said, but obviously, that is a situation that continues to unfold as we’ve been reporting, and we should also note that the press pool, the U.S. press pool immediately launched a formal objection to that, it is not protocol necessarily to have that kind of uneven distribution. Typically you have the U.S. side, and then the foreign press representatives, getting an equal amount of questions there. But — the American journalists in the room getting shut out essentially, not being able to ask a question there.”
