(COLUMBIA, S.C.) – Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that a Darlington man is going to prison for sexual conduct with a minor and sexually exploiting a minor. On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, Trevor Allen pleaded guilty to one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor, 3rd degree, and one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, 3rd degree, in Darlington County before the Honorable Judge DeAndrea Benjamin.

On September 6th, 2019, the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children indicating that a social media site had discovered evidence of possible illegal activity on its servers. According to that social media site, a user located in Darlington was talking to a minor online and soliciting sexual activity. The offending social media account was associated with Allen. Law enforcement reached out to the minor identified by the social media site and learned that, in addition to chatting about sexual activity over social media, the two met in person several times in Darlington county and engaged in sexual activity. These meetings occurred during the months of April and June of 2019, when the minor was 14 years old; and during the month of August, when the minor was 15 years old.  On September 20th, 2019, the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshal’s Service located and arrested Trevor Allen. After he was read his Miranda rights, Allen confessed to soliciting and meeting the teen for sexual activity.

Judge Benjamin sentenced Allen to eight years at the Department of Corrections, concurrent on both charges. He received credit for 272 days. He will have to register as a sex offender upon release and will be subject to lifetime GPS monitoring.
