Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara reports the arrest of Mahdee Carter, 30, and Aljamir Parrish-Williams, 20, both of Newark, in connection with an incident of aggravated assault that occurred yesterday.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., police responded to the area of Market Street and Littleton Avenue on a call of a man who had pointed a gun at a woman following a dispute. The suspect fled the scene in a white Nissan Altima driven by a woman who had participated in the quarrel with the victim.

Responding officers observed the suspect vehicle and attempted a motor vehicle stop at Littleton Avenue, near Cabinet Street. Carter and Parrish-Williams exited the vehicle and fled inside a residence, disregarding police commands to stop. Members of the Newark Police Emergency Response Team responded to the scene and negotiated with the two suspects to exit the residence. Both Carter and ParrishWilliams were taken into custody without further incident.
