TOMS RIVER, NJ – New Jersey Democrat Congressman Andy Kim who represents the Third Congressional District which encompasses portions of the central Jersey Shore grilled embattled U.S. Army General Mark Milley over the Biden administration’s exploration of other options in Afghanistan.

“Was there an actual formal request made to the Taliban fighters by the United States to stay past August 31st?” Kim asked General Milley. “Was that a request that was then?”

Milley once again deferred blame to the Biden administration.

“I don’t make decisions congressman, I provided in your recommendation, I was asked for what’s called best military advice,” Milley said. “I’m not aware of a formal request to the Taliban one way or another. I’m not aware of a formal request to the Taliban one way or the other on staying past the 31st. I am very familiar with the advice that we provided on the 25th before the fall of Kabul.”

Kim served as a civilian adviser to the U.S. military under former President Barack Obama.

It appears that the Biden Administration, from testimony this week before the U.S. Senate never sought to give Americans more time to withdraw from the country.
