“Across the country, Americans face a heightened risk of cyber attacks,” said Governor Hogan. “This Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we commit to remaining vigilant against the threats we face, and we thank all security professionals protecting us around the clock.”

October 2021
WHEREAS, The citizens of Maryland are proud to recognize the contributions of Maryland’s federal facilities, cybersecurity companies, business incubators, and higher education institutions to protecting the nation’s defense, commerce, and well-being; and
WHEREAS, Maryland is the nation’s epicenter of cybersecurity, home to a vibrant private sector that develops technology, products, and methods to thwart cyber intrusions; the U.S. Cyber Command, the NSA, and other federal agencies engaged in cybersecurity; and
WHEREAS, Maryland forges partnerships between and among military commands and federal agencies, companies in our state and around the world, and academia to identify and solve the cyber challenges facing our nation, foster the industry’s growth, and create jobs in Maryland; and
WHEREAS, Maintaining the security of cyberspace is a shared responsibility in which each of us has a critical role to play, and awareness of computer security essentials will improve the security of information, infrastructure and economy; and
WHEREAS, Maryland is pleased to join the nationwide campaign to increase the focus on understanding internet security and to raise awareness of the resources available to stay safe online.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, LAWRENCE J. HOGAN, JR., GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND, do hereby proclaim OCTOBER 2021 as NATIONAL CYBERSECURITY AWARENESS MONTH in Maryland, and do commend this observance to all of our citizens.
