Ocean County recognizes officers for Hispanic Heritage Month

TOMS RIVER, NJ – October is Hispanic Heritage Month and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has recognized one of their own.

The OCPO stated:

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office would like to highlight Sgt. Melissa Rose! Sgt. Rose began her law enforcement career here at OCPO as an Agent in 2004 and was promoted to the position of Sergeant in 2021.

Sgt. Rose has worked in the Special Victims Unit, Ocean County Narcotics Strike Force and is currently assigned to the Special Offenders Unit where she leads our Operation Helping Hand efforts.

When asked how her Hispanic Heritage has impacted her law enforcement career, Sgt. Rose said, “From a young age, I knew this is what I wanted to do. As I grew older, I learned that being able to give back, specifically to the Spanish speaking community was what I was called to do. I want our local Hispanic community to know there are resources and agencies available to them and that language should never be a barrier. Law enforcement officers like myself have chosen this path for the same reasons; we care about our heritage, we care about our community and we want to serve that community.”
