LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Acting U.S. Attorney Christopher Chiou for the District of Nevada announced today that the Department of Justice has recently awarded $21,997,467 in grant funding to improve services for crime victims and to support state, local, and tribal public safety across Nevada.
“By providing additional resources for victim service providers in Nevada, these grants will help secure victims’ legal rights and get survivors on the road to recovery,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Chiou. “The grants also reflect the Department of Justice’s steadfast commitment to protecting public safety and reducing crime in our communities and homes.”

OJP provides federal leadership, grants, training, technical assistance and other resources to improve the nation’s capacity to prevent and reduce crime, advance racial equity in the administration of justice, assist victims and enhance the rule of law. OVW provides leadership in developing the nation’s capacity to reduce violence through the implementation of the Violence Against Women Act and subsequent legislation. Created in 1995, OVW administers financial and technical assistance to communities across the country that are developing programs, policies and practices aimed at ending domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking.
