Westminster Couple wins $102,632 on FAST PLAY Scratch off

WESTMINSTER, MARYLAND – What luck! A married Carroll County couple found the last progressive jackpot in the FAST PLAY Chili Pepper Payout game with a ticket bought last week. The wife of the winning duo, who usually plays scratch-offs, found Lottery luck on Sept. 27 with a FAST PLAY game.

The mother of two was finishing her purchase at BJ’s Wholesale Club in Westminster when she won a $20 reward. She doesn’t play Lottery games often but favors scratch-offs. Because she was curious about FAST PLAY, she purchased a total of four FAST PLAY tickets out of the Lottery vending machine to see how they worked.

“I spent $10 for two, but they were not winners,” said the lucky player, “so I bought two more with the $10 remaining.” The final $5 ticket in the Chili Pepper Payout game delivered the progressive jackpot of $102,632. The Westminster resident didn’t completely understand what she was seeing, so she scanned the ticket. The message on the ticket checker directed her to claim the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. Still confused, she took the ticket to the cashier.

“She told me it was too high for her to cash,” said the big winner. “I was so nervous, I immediately called my husband and told him he had to leave work and meet me at home.”

The husband, who came with his wife to Baltimore to claim the prize, is amazed by the jackpot win. “I just thought this is so incredible,” he said, smiling. “I knew the prize was big because I could hear the cashier in the background when my wife called me. It’s still so exciting!”

Asked what they might do with the winnings, the couple said they will purchase a new home.

The lucky Lottery retailer is also a winner. BJ’s Wholesale Club #131 located at 820 Market Street earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a jackpot-winning ticket of $100,000 or more.

Although the Chili Pepper Payout game has closed, FAST PLAY still offers a choice of 18 games ranging in price from $1 to $20. The progressive jackpot for the $20 Diamond Mine game had reached $1.7 million on Wednesday morning and will continue to grow with each ticket sold until somebody buys a progressive jackpot-winning ticket.
