Fort Lauderdale police searching for violent attempted kidnapping suspect

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is investigating an attempted kidnapping that occurred on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at approximately 5:58 a.m. The incident occurred in the 500 block of East Las Olas Boulevard in the City of Fort Lauderdale.


Preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim was walking in the area towards Fort Lauderdale Beach when an unknown male suspect ran up behind her. The male grabbed her, choked her, and then slammed her on the ground before beginning to drag her. The suspect’s actions were interrupted by a witness who intervened.


The suspect fled the scene on a bike in a northbound direction prior to police arrival. The suspect is described as a tall, B/M, in his 30s, with short hair. On the date of the incident, the suspect did not have a shirt on but was wearing dark pants and white sneakers.

Throughout the investigation, detectives have obtained video and at this time, have exhausted all available investigative leads. They are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is not aware of any additional victims. However, if an individual believes they may have been victimized by this suspect they are asked to contact the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.
