Shot Spotter alert leads Columbus police to man shot and killed on Cleveland Avenue

COLUMBUS, OH – On October 8, 2021, at 1:37 am, officers were alerted to two shots fired by ShotSpotter. Officers responded to the area and located a victim, 51-year-old John D. Moore, in the 2100 block of Cleveland Ave. Officers rendered aid to Moore until Columbus Fire Medic #18 arrived.

The victim was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. Despite receiving life-saving medical treatment he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 3:14 am. This is the city’s 165th homicide in 2021.
