Elementary School Principal, sex offender with 26 victims and counting posts $100k bail and granted release by New York court

GREECE TOWN, NY – On October 18, 2021, Kirk Ashton posted bail. The defendant is expected to be released on bail this afternoon. Bail was addressed six separate times.

On April 14, 2021, Kirk Ashton was arraigned on six counts of Sexual Abuse in the 1st Degree, five counts of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the 2nd Degree and 9 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in front of Greece Town Judge Campbell. This is in relation to nine victims. Bail was set at $500,000 cash, $1,000,000 bond, $2,500,000 partially secured bond, as requested by the prosecution.

On April 19, 2021, the defense requested a bail application in front of the Part I Judge, Judge Dollinger. The prosecution requested that bail remain the same, the bail was lowered to $350,000 cash, $1,000,000 bond, $2,500,000 partially secured bond.

On April 28, 2021, Kirk Ashton was arraigned in Monroe County Court in front of Judge Bailey Turner, where an additional two victims were included in the indictment, bringing the total to 11 victims. At the arraignment, the prosecution requested that the bail remain the same. At the request of the defense, the bail was lowered to $250,000 cash, $1,000,000 bond, $2,500,000 partially secured bond.


On June 21, 2021, an indictment was unsealed charging Kirk Ashton with an additional 28 counts relating to fifteen new victims, for a total of 26 victims in two separate indictments. This indictment was unsealed and the defendant was arraigned in front of Monroe County Court Judge Bailey Turner.

At the time of the arraignment, the prosecution requested consecutive bail be set in addition to the bail on the previous indictment. The prosecution requested that the bail be doubled in light of the new charges and victims. Instead, the bail was set concurrent (the same) for both indictments, remaining at $250,000 cash, $1,000,000 bond, $2,500,000 partially secured bond, which covered both indictments. On July 30, 2021, the defense requested another bail application in front of Monroe County Court Judge Bailey Turner.

The prosecution requested that the bail not be lowered. The defense requested the cash bail be set at $20,000. Judge Bailey Turner lowered the bail to $175,000 cash, $250,000 bond, $750,000 partially secured bond. September 17, 2021, the most recent bail application, the defense requested another bail application in front of Monroe County Court Judge Bailey Turner.

The prosecution requested that the bail not be lowered. The defense requested the cash bail be set at $20,000. Judge Bailey Turner lowered the bail to $100,000 cash, $175,000 bond, $500,000 partially secured bond. On October 18, 2021, Kirk Ashton posted bail in the amount of $100,000 cash.

He is currently in custody and is expected to be released on his posted bail later this afternoon once he is set up with electronic home monitoring. In anticipation of his release, the Greece Police Department and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office are aware of the situation and will be monitoring closely
