Inside the most famous house in America, the Laundrie home in North Port, Florida

Americans have always had a fascination with the strange, bizarre and macabre. The Gabby Petito murder case highlights that fascination as more people visit the home to get a glimpse of where Petito’s possible killer, her boyfriend Brian Laundrie, and his family live.

It started with a rush of press reporters and cameramen. Then, the FBI showed up followed by Dog the Bounty Hunter. Now, the home has become a tourist destination for the curious. Now, it has become a tourist trap.

Earlier this month, Jim, a Florida travel vlogger visited the Laundrie house to show his viewers the circus.

“See how the media circus at Brian Laundrie’s family home in North Port Florida has become a huge tourist trap,” he wrote in his YouTube video post. “This video goes behind the scenes at Brian Laundrie’s house with exclusive footage showing protestors, television, print, and digital reporters, and tourists at the site.”

The Laundrie’s bought this house for $120,000 in 2017 when they moved here from Long Island.

Here’s how the MLS listing advertised the home, “Price improved on this beautiful 3 bed 2 bath pool home, freshly painted and ready for new Owners. This home features an open floor plan with split bedrooms and volume ceilings, Corian countertops, all tile interior, fenced back yard, all on a quiet street convenient to interstate, area shopping, and restaurants. The back yard is fenced in with a storage shed, outdoor shower, and a newly rescreened caged pool with a saltwater system. Recent upgrades include a new roof. This could be your piece of Paradise.”

As we’re learning now, it was not a paradise for houseguest Gabby Petito, who lived with the family for two years. Petito was found dead after documented signs of possible domestic abuse by her boyfriend Brian Petito. Strangled to death, her body was discarded in a secluded area of Grand Teton National Park.

Laundrie has since been on the run.

That’s the outside. On Realtor.com, you can see what the inside of the home looked like before the Laundries bought it a couple of years ago. The first shot is of the lanai pool

Here’s inside the Laundrie family room, how it looked prior to their purchase.
